Untitled (Portrait of a Man)
Acrylic on Canvas (Practice)
11 x 14 in
Special note: Just today, I learned about Cézanne. Some of his work speaks to me and there are moments in the left painting here, specifically the eyes, that feel aligned. I love when that happens.
Two versions: the original on the left was painted with a palette knife and the update on the right is with a brush to add details. I like both for different reasons, so now I have to figure out what topics work best for each style.
If and once I’m painting real people, because this guy is made up, there’s a very good chance the brush detail will win … and more important – their paintings won’t be so abstractly dark.
